Adam's house cat, Alice in Wonderland, had been a pretty friendly feline with her new owners, the Harknesses, so she was surprised when she woke up one morning and found a bandage on her back. Alice did not understand how she had received the injury but she was certn that, given her age, it must be a mistake. She had been expecting to live for another several years at least. "It's ok," Alice told herself, "it's all just a bad dream." Then she noticed that the bandage was no longer on her back.

"What is going on?" she thought, "I'm not feeling well, I'm going to die, I'm going to be buried, but there's nothing wrong with me. Is it possible that I died last night and didn't know it? That's not what I would have wanted," so she got up and inspected herself carefully.

Unfortunately she couldn't find any visible signs of her demise. She had black fur and a long pink tongue. The cat felt a sense of calm but the longer she looked at herself the more panicked she became. "Is it possible to grow two tls?" she asked herself. "Or am I actually a person wearing cat's clothes?"

"No," she thought, "that would be stupid. But how could I have two tls?" She tried to remember her dream but could only remember a large number of things. The Harknesses were going away to a conference but could be back at any moment, so there was no time to waste.

The house seemed strangely empty, as though there were people living there, yet they were only cats. There were a few of them, a ginger one named Bert, a black one named Bert, and a young black one named Bert. Alice wanted to go to her friends the Harknesses and find out what happened to her, but how could she get to them? She began to have visions of her friends, the Harknesses, in the future. Her friends told her that they were really gone, and the house was in fact haunted by their ghost. They told her that the ghosts were everywhere, so she ran all around, trying to spot them, and all she saw were black cats. Then one day she heard a strange sound, so she went to the door and realized that it was herself. She was calling and calling out to her friends. She was so pleased that she ran away and fell into the open trap.

### Chapter 5

# The Haunted School

##### "I don't know where I am, where am I going? I'm walking on a narrow path through a school of ghosts," Alice thought to herself. A young lady was walking ahead of her, but when Alice arrived at the school they had both vanished. They were just white cats with black spots.

Alice had been walking for a few hours without any success. It was a school and Alice did not want to enter it. But she was not worried because of the number of ghosts she had seen around the area. She was sure she would find her friends the Harknesses. She walked around the school for a long time, looking for the young man. The only young man who was there looked rather old and strange.

"I saw two black cats with white spots as I was walking here, where is the house of the Harknesses? I can't find it anywhere."

He responded by saying: "Yes, I am also looking for it."

"Would you have some tea? My throat is very dry," asked Alice.

"I would like that," he sd.

"I will be back shortly with your tea," sd Alice, "you can wt for me at the table. And the cat you just spoke to is Bert, another Bert, and the third one is Charlie, a black one."

Alice left him and headed back to the house.

"I'm back," sd Alice, "and here is your tea."

"Thank you, the Harknesses are very lucky to have you," sd the stranger.

"You are also lucky to have me, but I am not a witch," sd Alice, "I just find ghosts. Do you happen to know where the Harknesses live? They are both girls."

"Yes, I will take you there, but I think you should stay at the tea party because it is your first one," sd the stranger.

Alice agreed to stay at the tea party with the stranger and, while she sipped her tea, she started talking to the strange people she was with.

She started speaking with the young man, whom she thought he was a witch. She explned that she had been walking for hours and thought that they had disappeared.

"I am from the world of the dead," she sd. "I am new in this place. I have come to the Harknesses' house to see you. The Harknesses are very special."

"I wish I had known you were coming," he sd, "I should have planned a party."

"We don't know each other, so it is difficult to plan a party for two," sd Alice. "We are just having a small tea party."

"I am sorry you lost your brother. I hope you found your way," he sd.

"I found my way. I just needed time to think," sd Alice.

They continued talking and the young man told her about the life he was living.

"I have been lonely in this house for a while," he sd.

"You will see the Harknesses in the kitchen," sd Alice.

Alice looked around to see if she could find the Harknesses in the house. She could see the kitchen through the open doors of the front room, and the kitchen was dark. As she walked to the kitchen door, she could hear the music and it was getting louder.

"We will be ready for tea in a moment," sd Alice.

As Alice walked into the kitchen, the strangest, coldest feeling she had ever experienced came over her. She saw the Harknesses, who had disappeared from the kitchen. In fact, they were not even there at all. Alice turned and saw the most wonderful and bright being that she had ever seen in her life. She could not believe her eyes. Her skin started to burn and in an instant, she became blind. She did not know where she was or who she was with. All she knew was that she was standing next to the Harknesses and she was afrd and scared for her life. She did not know what had happened to her eyes. She was looking at the Harknesses and felt terrible. The feeling of cold came over her and she was afrd she was going to freeze to death.

"Why are we blind?" asked Alice.

"You will get your sight back in a moment. It will be all right," sd the Harknesses.

The Harknesses put his arms around Alice and started to carry her out of the kitchen. Then he put her down, stood up and took her by the hand. He led her into the other room. She could see as they walked into the room that she was wearing white pajamas and was sitting on a bed in her room. The Harknesses told her he was her uncle and that he was her father's brother. She knew this was so, but she could not believe what she was seeing. He told her he would leave the room and be back in a few minutes. Alice lay down on the bed and began to cry.

She cried
